It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

I love it how my pageviews have dropped to like, 100 a day when they used to be 2,000 a day when I uploaded more often.. xD;

University life rocks, k? The freedom, it's awesome. Just that alone is a reason to love it. I went to the poster sale today. Bought a Nightmare Before Christmas movie poster, a piece of artwork that looks very much like Van Gogh's work, called Lilly Reflections (by Coleman), and a poster with the "Footprints" story on it, and a "What Movie... Whose Line?" poster, with 101 classic movie quotes on it (yessss xD). I had my first courses this week. Music History, which was interesting, and Counterpoint (which I really like!!). I also have my non-music elective, which I chose Space, Time and Matter, but it was a really nerdy course, so I dropped it (and for other reasons lol), and now I am registered with the course Jesus of Nazareth, so it should be interesting. I found out what orchestra I am in... the contemporary orchestra! It wasn't my first choice, but I hear both of the orchestras are way up there. I am probably going to be the only first year in there. ._. The people I've met here so far are so nice. Yay for friends. <3 I am friends with like, my whole floor. xD; And I leave my door open so random people can wonder in. I just was helping a friend with counterpoint homework. We made our own melody! And we found an acronym for the modes: I Don't Play Loud Music After Lunch. c: If you guys can come up with a better one that uses the first letters, be my guest. Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian. My class schedule isn't too bad. Although I do have 5 courses on Friday, and 4 on Wednesday... but I do have only one on Tuesdays and Thursdays, hehehe. Tomorrow a bunch of us are getting together to work on counterpoint together, should be fun!! I gotta get back to work. Have to read some passages for music history class (the readings are really boring lol). I think I might go practice harp before closing hours, ttfn.

wow you have a light course load. I didn't have days with only one class until I was there making up classes after the planned three years. Then again the program I was in was considered to be a bit overloaded. My first semester I was in classes from 8 am to 4 or 5 that night with anywhere to a half hour to 2 hours lunch break.

I nearly broke the bank with those poster sales. I bought 3 posters and several prints (christmas pressies except the two x files posters I got for myself...lol)

Haha, I don't have quite that light of a course load. I have 7 courses intead of the 5 most have. Some of my friends have no classes on Friday! Others only have one or two a day. But courses can really get loaded on. I have a friend in 3rd or 4th year and he is taking all these crazy courses.

lol be thankful you don't have the 8 or 9 I did when I first started (but at Vanier) it was considered course overload but they did that to make the program fit into 3 years.

A couple years later it got better with only 4 courses but that was because i was maknig up (i had my classes spread out over an extra year to reduce the work load)
